Sarah Silverman for The Great Schlep

from their website:
The Great Schlep aims to have Jewish grandchildren visit their grandparents in Florida, educate them about Obama, and therefore swing the crucial Florida vote in his favor. Don’t have grandparents in Florida? Not Jewish? No problem! You can still become a schlepper and make change happen in 2008, simply by talking to your relatives about Obama.
If I thought The Great Schlep was truly thought up by independent Obama supporters, I would say: "What a fun idea; I love it when Americans get involved in the political process." However, I basically suspect The Great Schlep was conceived and secretly begun by the Obama Campaign and David Axelrod. That is to say: it's better than a 50/50 chance this is another astroturf campaign - just like Axelrod's got out all over the internet and YouTube.

Still, Sarah Silverman made a fun video:

The Great Schlep from The Great Schlep on Vimeo.

Two things:

Notice - because no sane person could claim Obama is better for Israel - the video makers are reduced to saying Obama is better for Israel b/c his overall foreign policy is "more stabilizing" - which, in the grand scheme of things, is better for Israel than McCain's implied less stabilizing foreign policy.

Second, does this video truly help Obama? I've watched it twice. During the second viewing I found myself wondering: is this a stealth pro-McCain video? Could it ... be .... Rove, you magnificent bastard!?

Jackie Mason and Republican Jewish Coalition respond: She's a sick yenta!
